Insurance becomes hot-button issue

Horwath accuses insurance industry of jacking up rates, Sept. 24

The NDP’s Andrea Horwath is right on the money and Peter Karageorgos of the Insurance Bureau is completely out of touch with reality.

Premier Kathleen Wynne promised a 15 per cent reduction in insurance rates for everyone, but the reality is that everyone’s rates went up. In 2011 my insurance bill for two cars was $3,009 and in 2012 it rose to $3,353 an increase of 11.5 per cent. And I have not had an accident or a ticket for decades.

All my neighbours express the same experience. Everyone who got an increase hike should tell the Premier she has been lied to, and that if she expects to be re-elected, she better focus on this hot-button issue because it directly effects the wallets of her constitiuents.
